AI vs. Junior jobs

Visual development | Editorial illustration

AI vs. Junior jobs is a self-commissioned editorial illustration projects inspired by the growing discussion around artificial intelligence and entry level jobs. I was inspired to create this piece when I was reading an article published by Bernard Marr & Co. Alongside the main illustration, I created a series of magazine mock-ups to explore how it could be used in an editorial publication. With this project, I wanted to focus on visual storytelling and concept development.

Concept

To support the main illustration, I created a smaller spot illustration. It shows the character imagining the robot confidently taking his place behind the computer while he watches anxiously in the background. Together, both illustrations complement each other but would work well as standalone pieces.

The main illustration uses a visual metaphor of a young character climbing a career ladder. Through a lot of effort he manages to get high above the clouds. The character looks over his shoulder, he sees a robot effortlessly extending further into the sky, soaring past the level of the character with ease. It emphasizes the contrast between human effort and the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence.
